Eva Gabriela Serrano, trabajadora de Easy Palermo, dirigente sindical y presidenta de la ONG La Fortaleza de Evas, vuelve a ponerse al frente de una batalla histórica. No es la primera vez que pelea por las tierras de Palermo: en 2018 logró frenar el intento de Horacio Rodríguez Larreta de avanzar sobre este predio. Hoy, en 2025, se enfrenta al presidente Javier Milei y a la Agencia de Administración de Bienes del Estado (AABE), que pretenden subastar el complejo Portal Palermo bajo el Decreto 950/2024.
La subasta, fijada para el 6 de octubre, pone en riesgo directo a más de 1.500 trabajadores y trabajadoras de Jumbo, Easy y más de 50 locales comerciales. Pero la gravedad no se limita a lo laboral: el predio alberga al Pabellón del Centenario, Monumento Histórico Nacional, y al Regimiento de Patricios, reconocido como sitio de Memoria, Verdad y Justicia. Trabajo, historia y memoria: tres pilares que, de concretarse la venta, quedarían sometidos a la lógica del mercado.
Serrano no llega a esta lucha desde cero. Su trayectoria habla de una vida dedicada al sindicalismo y a la defensa de los trabajadores. A los 15 años inició su militancia en la carpa docente. En 2022 encabezó la huelga que paralizó la cadena de frío en todo el país, denunciando condiciones inhumanas en la empresa Bajo Cero. En 2023, organizó la medida de fuerza en Zárate que frenó el transporte público durante 24 horas. Como presidenta de La Fortaleza de Evas, logró reincorporar a más de 800 trabajadores despedidos por discriminación, y hoy es candidata a la Secretaría General del Sindicato de Empleados de Comercio de la Capital Federal para las elecciones de 2026.
La pelea por Easy Palermo condensa esa historia de lucha. No se trata solo de un predio: se trata de sus compañeros, de 1.500 familias, de la memoria y del patrimonio colectivo. “No es cualquier pelea —señala Serrano—. Son mis compañeros, y voy a dar esta batalla con la certeza de que la vamos a ganar. Será dura, pero siempre estaré del lado de los trabajadores. Porque los bienes públicos, la historia y el trabajo no se venden: se defienden.”
Con la fortaleza de quien ya derrotó una vez a Larreta y con la legitimidad de su trayectoria, Eva Serrano se planta nuevamente en defensa de las tierras de Palermo. La batalla contra Milei y la AABE recién empieza, pero la convicción es clara: esta no será una subasta más. Será el escenario de una resistencia sindical, social y de derechos humanos que marcará la historia reciente de los trabajadores mercantiles.
